Project Run and Play Season 6 Starts TODAY!!!

HOORAY!!!
I love the beginning of a new season.  It's so exciting!
It's so fun to have everyone back together and 6 weeks full of sewing children's clothing.

Now let's get this party started.
Week one is always a pattern remix and this week is no exception.  The pattern we are remixing this week is The Party Dress from Lindsay at The Cottage Home.  All you need to do is click HERE, get the tutorial and start remixing to make a design all your own!

After that we want you to share what you've made...and this season things will be just a little different.  For awhile now we've toyed around with trying out a linky party instead of using the Flickr group and this season is the season to try it out.

SO, if you are sewing along with us you can still upload your photos to the Flickr group BUT if you want your look to be entered into the sew along contest please link them up to the linky party below.  It is open now and will remain open until 8:00 am on Friday morning, at which time our judges will check them all out and select a winner for the week.

We are looking forward to the linky party format and how easy it will be to just click around to everyone's blogs.  So start showing us your stuff!

Now for some housekeeping rules:
#1.  Please only link up one photo.  (You can post as many photos and descriptions as you want on your blog---now it will only be just a button push away!)

#2.  Link up only the a photo for the weekly theme.  (For example if you have sewn ahead and already have your look done for boys week, hang onto it!  Don't upload it this week.  Wait until boys week and then link away.)

#3.  Feel free to work ahead.  That's why we give you all the themes in advance!  You can sumbit anything you have sewn since we announced the themes in the third week in December.

#4.  Click around and check out other's work.  There are some amazing women who sew along and I promise you won't be disappointed.

Allright, that's all for today.  Unless you need a quick recap of all the themes, which if you do just click HERE and read all about them.  Good Luck and Get Sewing!  We are dying to see what you are all going to come up with!

  1. Does this mean we can only enter at home through the link party, not Flickr? So if we dont have a blog we are not eligible?

    1. If you don't have a blog, maybe you could link up to a picture that you place in the flickr pool? See what LiZ and Elizabeth say....but that is the route I would take if I were you!

  3. Maybe my understanding is incorrect, but I think you can upload ANY relevant link to the linky party: A link to your pic in the Flicker group, or your own Flicker stream, or your Facebook page or your blog. I can see why they want to go this route, though. The Flicker stream gets hard to look through and determine just how many entries there are because of users uploading multiple photos and collages and detail shots. I think the linky will help make their lives easier. After all... these women are running TWO awesome blogs, not to mention maintaining their lives outside of blogging.

  4. Rosie is exactly right....you can upload a link from a Flickr page or any other URL link to a linky party....so you can still enter!

When you go into the linky party, you are going to use the second tab at the top (the first one is for blogs) and you can upload away.

Happy sewing everyone! We can't wait to see your looks!

  6. Just kidding....as long as you have put "anyone can view" in your flickr settings you can upload the URL of your flickr photo straight into the URL box (just like you would a blog).

I just tried it and it worked perfectly!!! Please still enter!!!

  8. I love the linky party idea! Flickr is great, but this is an easier way to get an overview of all the sew along at home-ers. Then you can click over and see the blogs or close up pics in Flickr. Great change ladies!

  9. Thank you, thank you! I dislike Flickr and I recently closed my Yahoo account (which is connected to Flickr) because it kept getting hacked. I'm so happy you are doing a linky party instead.

  13. Could you remove entry 8 as it did not link to my blog correctly. I corrected the error with entry 9. I love the linky party as I can find out so much more about the creation of each garment.

    1. I just deleted 8, so your #9 is left on the linky party. Elizabeth

  14. Yesterday, my first reaction was, "Oh, no, they changed it!" And I worried for people who didn't have a blog. I am so glad everyone figured out a way to still participate, and I am enjoying all the traffic to my blog. I even got a new follower! Thanks for taking a risk and trying something new.

  15. This is so fun for me to see! The creativity in this world always astounds me. Great work ladies and you all have done a fabulous job making this pattern your own! Thanks for selecting The Party Dress as the first week remix!!

  16. I'm generally not a big Flickr fan, but I do see a few cons with this new format that I thought I'd share:

    1) The Linky party post is getting lost behind newer blog posts of the week;
    2) Previous format allowed us to look at all the sew along designs together; so if I missed a week, I could still go to the Flickr and see what I had missed. This way, it will be more difficult to find previous week submissions.
    3) MOST IMPORTANT: one of the most fun things about sewing along (at least for me) was reading all the comments below each photo and the discussion that followed those comments. I will really miss that!

Hope these comments are interesting and perhaps there could be a way to address these issues without giving up the convenience of the linky party.

  17. I love this format. It is a great way for the sewists involved to get blog traffic. ALthough I see the previos person's point that it may be difficult for people who don't have blogs

  18. It's the first time I'll be joining the sew along. I'm not a flirck fan so I am happy about the linky party. =D I'm just finishing my dress.

  19. I obsessively check back like... every three hours... to see if there are any new dresses. so fun! I'm really glad I chose to sew along this season! I didn't see anything about what the contestants this season could win.. ? Do those get posted as each winner is picked that week?

  20. Everyone has done a STELLAR Job - it has been fun jumping from blog to blog to see each creation and the inspiration behind it - the Sew Along never disappoints!!!!
